BIOGRAPHY
These are two vastly different yet closely connected universes. Two islands, two histories passionately tied to music, and two peoples who continue to live and breathe through it. Two nations born from the migration of people, from mixing and blending, demonstrating how this makes us richer, stronger, and more creative!
This is what makes the project "HAVANA MEETS KINGSTON" unique; until today, no one had recorded such an album!
The idea was born from the ingenuity of Mista Savona, an Australian globetrotting producer who travels the world in search of sounds and talents.
In 2015, he decided to bring together the best of them, from Kingston to Havana. This is where Sly & Robbie, Bongo Herman, ‘Bopee’ Anderson, Ernest Ranglin, Rolando Luna, and Barbarito Torres from the Buena Vista Social Club, Los Van Van, Havana Cultura, and many others came together.
The experienced musicians also play alongside the young prodigies from both islands. It’s a historic intergenerational and cultural exchange! Borders open up once again, thanks to music.
For nearly a year, the project has been making waves online, with a promotional video that garnered over 1.5 million views on Facebook in a week, sparking extraordinary interest from music fans of all genres!
David Rodigan himself, DJ and programmer for the renowned BBC in England, raved about the first single "Carnival," which we are finally introducing to France!
"HAVANA MEETS KINGSTON" is an album that will undoubtedly open a new chapter in the history of Caribbean music. It represents the unique alliance between two languages and two styles. The sound of a multicultural generation that no longer confines itself to a particular style, eager for novelty and experimentation, travel, and encounters.
