BIOGRAPHY
In almost half a century of career, it feels as if JOHNNY OSBOURNE has lived multiple lives: a privileged witness to the evolution of Jamaican music, he experienced the birth of reggae, dancehall, and then digital. Marked by numerous hits such as the classic “Truth and Right,” his career began in the 1960s and has continually evolved.
After a stay in Canada where he experimented with various bands, he made a stunning return to Jamaica in the 1980s. He worked notably with STUDIO ONE, which produced the legendary album “TRUTH AND RIGHTS,” along with its title track. Then, with KING JAMMY, he recorded the successful album “FOLLY RANKING.”
Less visible from the 1990s onwards, he returned to the stage in 2012 for a festival tour, showcasing his legendary stage presence once again.
Meanwhile, he stayed relevant, collaborating with big names of the moment like CHINESE MAN on the track “Independent Music” and with MAJOR LAZER on “Jah No Partial.” In short, he is an inexhaustible hit-maker, a legendary artist who has managed to stay current and consistently deliver new, unique productions.
